JV2 Dominant Performance Leads to 5-2 Victory Over LZMW Yeti
Flossmoor, IL – The JV2 team showcased their skill and determination today against the LZMW Yeti, coming away with a convincing 5-2 victory. The match featured standout performances, particularly from Alex Macri, who netted a hat trick.
The scoring opened early when Alex Macri found the back of the net at 3:22 in the first period, assisted by Ben Cygan. This goal set the tone for the game, with the team holding onto a 1-0 lead through the remainder of the first period.
As the second period progressed, Cole Wojak doubled the lead for the home team with an unassisted goal at 6:23, making it 2-0. The Yeti responded with a goal of their own four minutes later, narrowing the gap to 2-1.
The third period saw Macri strike again, scoring his second goal of the night at the start of the period, again assisted by Cygan. The Yeti quickly retaliated, scoring just 20 seconds later, to make it a 3-2 game but that was the last time they would light the lamp. Mark Weiss answered shortly after, assisted by Brandon Plahm increasing the lead back to 2.
With the clock winding down, Macri capitalized on a defensive turnover, sealing his hat trick with an unassisted goal at 2:26 left in the game, bringing the score to 5-2.
Alex Welsh put forth a solid performance in net, ensuring the team's win with key saves throughout the game.
